presentations

the presentations of the lesson plan were very interesting. i loved the math ones that can teach multiplications on the computer and slows it down so almost any student can learn. There are so many ways to teach students how to do math and i hope that i can use these techniques in my classroom. The online websites would help me to get new lesson plans for my classes and help me to learn new ways to teach these things to my students. i really enjoyed the presentations and i hope that i can use them one day.

voice thread

i dont really see how i can use voice thread in my classroom. its seems like it would be good to use in english or something but i would not use this in my classroom with math.

Matching the Technology

When we are teaching I think that we need to match the technology as much as our schools and our subjects allow. I think that online chats would be a great idea in the classroom if you can use it to your subject but they are hard to moniter. I prefer to have face to face teaching because I learn better that way. Well podcasts don't help students learn any better than before they just have less one on one time with the teacher and that hinders the learning process to me. Teachers are there for a reason so if we use podcast then we are almost not needed. Video games can help kids learn if they can go with the subject. Students would learn better because almost all kids love video games and with them comes more students willing to learn.

Personality Test

I am ENFJ. The description of the enfj is pretty much me. I can hardly believe that it was so correct about me. Most things that I do are not that close to being right but this one is dead on about me.

I like the wikis. I don't know how I would use it in my classroom with math but when it comes to definitions I might use it. It is not really something that I would prefer.

I think that both styles of learning can work for different people. I would rather be taught the traditional way but I know others who can't learn that way and they need to use other ways to learn the same material that I learned from traditional learn. Mainly the people that I know who can't learn like me, they are my reason for teaching in both ways.

People have different personalities and that in itself is what makes it different in every learning situation. I learn differently then even my sisters who would like to change it to the new way but I like to learn things the traditional way. We maybe sisters but we are completely different when it comes to how we learn. If I can get past the barriers that students put up then yes I can help them better. When I knowhow they learn the best then I can teach better and everyone wins in that situation. If I know their personality traits then I would know how they are personally and how they need to be taught.

Questions on Spreadsheets

I think that spreadsheets are a great source of learning and having an useful skill to use outside of school. I would use it somewhat in my classroom at least to make things like matching numbers to use in the classroom.

I use spreadsheet instead of calculator because you still have to know the formulas in math to be able to get the right answer for the questions. The calculator does that for you.

Inspiration Software

1. I like how the features are already there and I can just put the notes in that I need to make an outline. The charts help to organize the information that I wish to share with the class that I am teaching. I would use the charts to show the students exactly what we are learning and why.

2. The type of writing activities that you could do is any kind of writing really. The way students can help each other is by proofing others papers and giving feedback to each other and the teacher could do the same as the students by providing feedback. Writing is hard to do but when you are given the tools such as the technology to do it, it usually becomes easier to do. The technology can help all people to write what they need to and help them to understand more about what they are writing and what others can see from their writing. They could blog like we are doing now and learn how to respond in this manner to know how to use technology these days.

2. In the chapter they mention using Java to learn worldwide. This would open our communication and learning to other countries and help us to understand them. This is a great way to learn more about technology and other people as well.

1. Using a blog is a good idea in my opinion. This allows us to respond to all of the questions that everyone has. I think in certain situations it can help people learn. It certainly is not a waste of time just a new way to learn.

Introduction

My name is Shalane Keller and I love children, that is why I am going to be a teacher. I have 5 sisters ranging from 41 years old to me at 21. My father has MS which if you don't know what that is, it is Multiple Sclerosis. It is a nerve disease to which he cannot move but he can feel. Anyways my mom is the best friend that I have in the world, we do everything together. I am engaged to a wonderful man and we are planning on getting married next summer, after he graduates from east field college. I am a pharmacy technician at Mcgaugheys Med Chest in Greenville until I graduate then I will be a math teacher.
